Mam and Dad's Story: 90 years in the life of a family

When my father retired in the 1990s, I pestered him to write down some of his stories. Dad took the long-hand approach, and Mam, whose eyesight had faded, recorded her memories with a Dictaphone. In 2020, I found a long lost tape recording of hers, and that inspired me to finally finish the transcription process, to find photos to go with the words and to consider how best their story might be shared. The result is a series of short videos with me reading their words against a backdrop of images from the 1930s to more recent years. I have loved putting this together. It has been life affirming, joyous, often sad, but great fun.

I hope you enjoy. My hope is that their story will inspire other people to follow their lead:
